Resolution Seoul - XXIII IUFRO World Congress
Between the 23-28 August 2010 in Seoul, Republic of Korea has held the XXIII World Congress of International Union Organizciones Forestry Research (IUFRO ) under the theme "Forests for the Future: Sustaining Society and the Environment",
Between the 23-28 August 2010 in Seoul, Republic of Korea has held the XXIII World Congress of International Union Organizciones Forestry Research (IUFRO ) under the theme "Forests for the Future: Sustaining Society and the Environment",
The XXIII IUFRO World Congress provided a unique forum to present and discuss the results of current research related to forests worldwide. The Congress explored a wide variety of pending and emerging issues that are of critical importance for the future of woodlands and their ability to deliver the full range of environmental, economic, social, cultural and health support to rural and urban societies throughout the world .

(...) recognizing the essential role that forestry should engage to address the common challenges that we face world, IUFRO will:
Increase attention to international cooperation in six areas of research: forests for people, change climate and forests, bioenergy, forest biodiversity conservation, interactions between forests and water and forest resources for the future.
Improve communication within the structure of IUFRO, other scientists, students, professional foresters and the public, and increase the visibility of and access to research results;
broaden and deepen the work of IUFRO at the interface between science and policy to promote scientific contributions to international processes, conventions and organizations, to respond quickly to new political issues, increasing partnerships and collaboration with international organizations and processes through provision of scientific information and policy options (...)"
